Frequently Asked Questions
General Questions
What is The E-Vessel Movement?
The E-Vessel Movement is a global art challenge that transforms discarded materials into valuable art while giving back to charity. Artists create work on repurposed materials, sell their pieces, and donate a minimum of 10% of proceeds to their chosen charity or faith-based organization.
Is this a religious movement?
The E-Vessel Movement is Christian-inspired, rooted in the biblical story from 2 Kings 4 about the widow's oil. However, we welcome artists of all faiths, beliefs, and backgrounds. You don't need to share our spiritual foundation to participate—only a commitment to transform waste into art that gives back.
Is The E-Vessel Movement a charity or non-profit?
No. The E-Vessel Movement is a global community challenge, not a registered charity or non-profit organization. We never handle money. All art sales, pricing, tax liabilities, and charitable donations are the sole responsibility of the individual participating artist.
How do I follow the movement?
Follow us on Instagram at @TheEVesselMovement and use the hashtag #TheEVesselChallenge to share your work and see what others are creating.
For Artists
Who can participate?
Any artist, anywhere in the world! Whether you're a professional artist, hobbyist, or just starting out—if you're willing to create on repurposed materials and commit to giving back, you're welcome here.
What materials qualify as "repurposed"?
Anything that would otherwise be discarded or is already considered waste:
Thrift store canvases (with or without existing art)
Scrap wood or reclaimed lumber
Old furniture pieces
Discarded metal or ceramic
Department store art you're transforming
Any material that's secondhand or destined for the trash
The key: it must be something you're giving new life to, not something brand new you purchased specifically for this project.
Can I buy a blank canvas from a thrift store?
Yes! As long as it's secondhand/thrifted, it qualifies. Many thrift stores sell old canvases with art already on them—those are perfect E-Vessels.
Do I have to donate exactly 10%?
10% is the minimum. You're welcome and encouraged to donate more if you feel called to do so!
What charities can I donate to?
Any legitimate charity or faith-based organization of your choice. This could be:
Your local church, temple, mosque, or place of worship
A registered non-profit (local or international)
A cause you're passionate about (animal rescue, food banks, education, etc.)
You choose where your 10% goes based on what matters to you.
Do I have to show proof of my donation?
We operate on an honor system rooted in integrity and faith. The E-Vessel Movement doesn't collect or verify donations—this is between you, your buyer, and your conscience. However, sharing your charitable impact on social media can inspire others and show the multiplication in action!
How do I price my E-Vessel art?
You set your own prices! Consider:
Your time and skill level
The transformation you've achieved
The story behind the piece
What similar work sells for in your market
Remember: 10% goes to charity, so price accordingly to ensure you're compensated fairly AND can give generously.
Do I need to join a roster or register?
Yes! We encourage you to join our artist roster so we can feature your work, connect you with collectors, and build community. It's free to join.
What if I create an E-Vessel but it doesn't sell?
That's okay! Not every piece will sell immediately. You can continue creating, building your portfolio, and sharing on Instagram. The movement is about the practice of surrender and generosity—the outcome is in God's hands.
Can I create E-Vessels as gifts instead of selling them?
Absolutely! If you gift an E-Vessel, consider making a donation yourself (if you're able) or encouraging the recipient to "pay it forward" by supporting a charity of their choice.
How do I share my work?
Post your E-Vessel on Instagram with:
The hashtag: #TheEVesselChallenge
Tag: @TheEVesselMovement
Share the before/after if possible
Tell the story of your vessel and your chosen charity
For Collectors/Buyers
How do I buy E-Vessel art?
Currently, you can purchase E-Vessel works by movement founder Melissa Louise at melissa-louise-art.com. As more artists join, we'll feature their available works and provide links to purchase directly from them.
You can also join our collector notification list to be notified when new E-Vessel art becomes available.
How do I know my purchase supports charity?
Every participating artist commits to donating a minimum of 10% of their E-Vessel sales to charity. When you purchase, feel free to ask the artist:
What was the original vessel (the before)?
Which charity or organization will receive the donation?
This conversation connects you to the full story of transformation and impact.
Can I request custom E-Vessel commissions?
That depends on the individual artist! Reach out to them directly to discuss commissions. Just remember: the work must still be created on repurposed materials to qualify as an E-Vessel.
What makes E-Vessel art different from regular art?
E-Vessel art comes with a story of transformation:
It started as something discarded (environmental impact)
It was created through an act of surrender and faith (spiritual practice)
It directly supports charity (social impact)
You're not just buying art—you're completing a cycle of multiplication and generosity.
About Sales & Legalities
Who handles the money from art sales?
The individual artist. The E-Vessel Movement never touches any money. All transactions happen directly between the artist and the buyer.
Who is responsible for taxes?
The artist. Each participating artist is responsible for reporting their income, handling sales tax (if applicable), and managing their own tax obligations according to their local laws.
Who is responsible for making the charitable donation?
The artist. Each artist commits to donating at least 10% of their E-Vessel sales to their chosen charity or faith-based organization. This is a personal commitment of integrity.
What if there's a dispute between a buyer and artist?
The E-Vessel Movement is not involved in individual transactions. Any disputes, refunds, or issues must be resolved directly between the buyer and the artist.
